Stephanie Benson was hired as a Cross-Categorical teacher at MVK Middle School for 5 years before becoming a GCSEC reading specialist. Jean Ann Carter came to the GCSEC as a resource teacher at Saratoga and now serves as one of the reading specialists for Grundy County . As reading specialists, we try to be proactive in using appropriate methods and resources to better address the varied learning needs of GCSEC students. We help plan and implement instruction, and share a variety of instructional methods to teach and reinforce the stages of reading. To enhance learning, we assess the needs of individual students and staff to aide developing programs, while remembering to be responsive to their needs. We collaborate and communicate with staff and administration on appropriate scientifically research based materials to best help students achieve. Supporting students, faculty and staff with professional development is our goal as reading specialists for Grundy County . |
